Girls weekend away outside of Cape Town.

October 13, 2016

Girls weekend away outside of Cape Town.

It’s nearing the end of the year and time to get your squad together. You’ve decided to have a girls weekend away. Why not start off in Cape Town and plan a little road trip in and around the Western Cape? This way you’re bound to have the best girls weekend filled with happy memories.

Fri-YAY has come

The girls are in the car, snacks are being passed around and Taylor swift is keeping the buzz going. You hop on the N1 towards Paarl with the boot filled with bags, sleeping pillows, cooler bags and so on. Your first stop off is at Cascade Manor. This four star hotel, located in Paarl, is the perfect place to unwind and relax with the girls. In the evening you can enjoy laughter around the fire and an early night in. The next morning you can enjoy a spa session at the hotel and sip on freshly squeezed orange juice while you look out onto the well kept lawns.

Wine sippin’ Saturdays

Wine O’ clock has arrived so you and your crew should get into the car and head for De Meye. De Meye Estate is a family-owned boutique winery, situated north of Stellenbosch. Here you’ll find yourself sipping on one of De Meye’s various house wines while sitting under oak trees soaking up the sun. This is the perfect photographic spot. So make sure to go with a full phone battery and Instagram at the ready. Don’t forget your favourite shade of summer lipstick in your day trip luggage bag. After lazing in the sun and walking through the vineyards you could head off to do something a little more active. Polkadraai Strawberry farm is fun for everyone. Pay for a certain bucket size and enjoy picking your own strawberries. This is sure to be a long-lasting memory. After this you might find yourself strolling down Dorp street in Stellenbosch and ending off the night with a show at the Klein Libertas Theatre.

Soulful Sunday

There’s no better way to spend the day than with a picnic at Spier Wine Farm. You can preorder a delicious picnic from the restaurant and walk down to the dam area with the girls. Lying on few scattered cushions you can take in the sound of the trees rustling in the breeze, the chirping ducks and the pleasant smell of farm-fresh baked bread. To end off a really amazing girls weekend grab a coffee and your last group selfie at Wild Clover restaurant, just before hitting the N1 and heading back home, back to reality.
