Women, propose to your partner this Valentine’s Day

January 22, 2015

proposeI know what you’re thinking. It’s not a leap year. But it is 2015 and if this is what you want, you should go after it.

By now you know you are in a loving and committed relationship, have discussed marriage and know you both see your future together.

But your partner hasn’t popped the question, probably because they are waiting for just the right moment. That time is now and you can make it happen.

Incredibly romantic

February 14 is a difficult day to propose as there is the possibility of cheesiness. But if done right it can be incredibly romantic.

Don’t hesitate to take this opportunity to step up and make this memory.

If Monica could get down on bended knee and pop the question to Chandler on Friends, there’s no reason you shouldn’t.

Don’t do this

Research shows that one in five women are unhappy with their proposal. The top reason for this? Engagement rings that were too small or no ring at all.

This is where you proposing is the perfect solution. You’re either going to have to look at engagement rings by yourself or wait til after you have proposed and suggest a joint ring shopping session.

Other reasons women have been disappointed most often includes her partner not getting down on bended knee, not having something special planned and not asking for her parents’ permission.

All of these – bar the permission seeking – can be solved by you popping the question yourself.

Plan something special

First things first, you’ll need to make sure you have your partner’s family’s blessing. If you are in a meaningful relationship, you should know intuitively if this is the case. But take that extra step to make sure – it could be the difference between happily or unhappily ever after.

Next up is planning something special. There are numerous solutions and suggestions out there. Google “proposal ideas” and more than 16 million websites will come up.

The most important thing you need to be sure of is whether you and your partner would be comfortable with a public proposal. The most obvious solution is to go to your favourite restaurant where you have shared special moments and created memories together. After a delicious meal, pop that question and the bottle of bubbly. If neither of you is comfortable with public displays of affection, you need to do this in private.

Once you’re in the romantic scenario which you have carefully planned, make sure to go down on bended knee. If he is anything like Chandler, he’ll join you.
