How to look hot in winter

Looking stylish in the cold, dark winter months can be tricky. We’ve rounded up some of our top tips and tricks.

The sun is setting later in the evening. It is dark when you get up in the morning. There’s just no denying it anymore. Winter is on its way. And it’s time to start thinking about what you’re going to wear this winter to keep yourself still looking hot while you’re wrapped up in a million layers.

Winter calls for layers and lots of them. The reality is that we don’t spend all our time in cold, winter weather. The majority of us spend our days in air-conditioned offices. We race from home to the office and back again with just a few minutes spent outside. We need to be able to take off a couple layers as the day warms and put them on again as the weather cools.

We don’t really need them in not-so-cold South Africa, but they look so good! We love layering up in cute coats. The happy truth is, it doesn’t really matter what the rest of your outfit looks like when you’re wrapped up in a fab coat. The hottest ones right now have extra special details – think oversized zips, leather accents and an oversized shape.

The best part about winter is the boots. Every girl needs loads of boots in her cupboard. We need heeled boots, flat boots, leather boots, suede boots. The list just doesn’t end. Luckily all of the major retailers have had plenty of pairs of stylish boots on their shelves for the last few weeks. The most difficult thing you have to do? Try stop yourself from buying too many.

A little bit of sparkle always helps to elevate an outfit. Ladies, your watches, earrings, necklaces and bangles are your new best friends. Spotting those added elements among the layers of jerseys and jackets really help to make you seem super stylish.

Every fashion girl knows, accessories are the best way to transform an outfit. Scarves and hats are going to be your best friend this winter. Oversized accessories are all the rage this season. The bigger the scarf, the better. The bigger the hat, the better. Dig up some treasures from your mother’s or grandmother’s cupboard and rock their vintage accessories.
There you have it, layered up and get ready to face the world in your winter best!
